What is Avatar IV in HeyGen AI? Examples With Videos

HeyGen AI recently came out with its Avatar IV model, which allows you to turn an image into a talking video with almost a single click.

For example you can take an image like the one below:

You can upload this on the Avatar IV interface as shown below:

Then either you can type the exact thing the person in the image should say or upload an audio recording. If you are doing the former, you will be able to select one of the many built-in voices that HeyGen has.

If you wish you can also specify some types of motion that this person should make. However, it usually doesn’t follow that well.

Finally, you can turn on or off the “More Expressive” option to make the avatar more or less expressive.

And then hit Generate.

That’s it!

You’ll get a video like shown in the starting of the following video:

In the video above, we have shown the entire process of using Avatar IV, so make sure you watch it.

What makes Avatar IV so great and unique?

The answer is simple – Incorporating human-like expressions.

The truth is that Image to video avatar tools have existed for a long time. They were just called lip syncing tools.

But the main issue with most of those was that the person in the image used to look very robotic and “AI-like”.

HeyGen’s Avatar IV solves that problem because the person not only talks but also moves their hands, changes their facial expression, moves their head and body while speaking, just like a HUMAN would.

This makes the videos look very real and more appealing.

What are some of the use-cases of Avatar IV?

Since everything in Avatar IV happens after you upload an image, its use-cases are plenty, like the ones below:

AI Twin for Camera-Shy Individuals: Lets people create a lifelike avatar of themselves to appear on camera confidently, even if they’re shy. We have shown this in this video. Basically, you upload a photo of yourself and turn it into a speaking video.

Marketing Videos: Create highly engaging spokesperson-style videos for ads, promotions, and landing pages using a realistic Avatar IV presenter.

Training Videos: Produce professional, consistent training and onboarding content without hiring real actors or setting up studios.

Multilingual Content Creation: Instantly generate videos in multiple languages with lip-synced avatars for global audiences.

Customer Support Videos: Use avatars to explain FAQs, product usage, or troubleshooting in a friendly, human-like manner.

Are there any competitors to HeyGen’s Avatar IV?

Yes, there are. Here are some of them:

Higgsfield Speak

Currently, Higgsfield Speak by Higgsfield AI is perhaps the biggest competitor to HeyGen’s Avatar IV. In the video below, we have done a comparison between the two (towards the end of the video):

Hedra AI

Hedra AI is also a massive competitor to Avatar IV. We will soon be making a video tutorial on our YouTube channel, so make sure you subscribe.

Kling AI Lip Syncing

Kling AI‘s lip syncing tool has been getting better and better. In the video below we have shown how to use it:

So is Avatar IV the best out there as of now?

Yes, it is. We have tested it quite often against the competitors above. And when it comes to the accuracy of lip syncing as well as the realism in the human-like emotions, HeyGen’s Avatar IV outshines all its competitors.

However, you have to remember that in the world of AI, things can change quickly. So tomorrow there might be some other tool which can outdo HeyGen.
