Can Photoshop Do AI Upscaling? Truth Is It Cannot
You’ll often hear people say that Photoshop can do AI upscaling because it has the Super Zoom Neural Filter or the Super Resolution function in Camera Raw Filter. But trust me when I say this – those features are completely useless. Almost a joke to be honest.
And the normal upscaling in Photoshop is trash too since it’s not AI and therefore it cannot accurately predict which new pixels to generate. So basically Photoshop is useless when it comes to upscaling.
So what should you do?
Here’s the short answer – If you want to do proper upscaling, you have to use an AI upscaler using a third party website. And the good news is there are plenty of them.
In the video below, I show you some of those websites and I also show you how the results compare to when you upscale in Photoshop. This video is from our course called Photoshop AI vs Free AI Tools , which has 31 videos like these and is available via Udemy.com:
Also, if you really want to go to the next level of upscaling, then you have to use a special type of AI upscaler called as a Creative AI Upscaler. A creative AI upscaler is even more powerful as it has the liberty to heavily manipulate the new pixels it generates. The downside to this is that it can severely alter the image while upscaling it but when done correctly, it can produce some stunning results also.
