Video Summary

This DaVinci Resolve tutorial demonstrates how to add artificial movement, such as zooming and panning, to static footage.

Key Techniques:

  • Dynamic Zoom Tool: The easiest way to create movement is by enabling Dynamic Zoom in the Inspector panel [01:26]. This tool is available in the free version of DaVinci Resolve.
  • Swapping Direction: You can use the Swap option to quickly reverse the zoom direction (e.g., from zoom-in to zoom-out) [02:09].
  • Smoothness Settings: Adjust how the movement starts and ends using options like Linear, Ease In, Ease Out, or Ease In and Out to make the transition smoother [02:34].
  • Manual Control: For precise adjustments, select the Dynamic Zoom overlay from the dropdown menu below the timeline [03:36].
    • Green Box: Represents where the movement starts [03:58].
    • Red Box: Represents where the movement ends [04:16].
  • Panning: To create a panning effect (e.g., left to right), position the green box on one side of the frame and the red box on the other [05:28].
  • Speed Control: The speed of the zoom or pan is determined by the duration of the clip on the timeline; shorter clips will result in faster movement [05:13].
